Amcor has announced the launch of AmSecure thermoformed trays and rollstock, a new part of its HealthCare portfolio.
AmSecure is a proprietary APET-based solution that Amcor says delivers comparable performance to PETG. The company claims that the switch to APET maintains clarity, durability and sterilization compatibility, while offering a cost-effective and more sustainable alternative compared to PETG.
The new range is designed for medical and pharmaceutical applications and, Amcor says, maintains “excellent dimensional stability” compatible with standard sterilization methods.
AmSecure was designed to accept numerous raw material supply options with multiple qualified raw materials, with the aim of providing robust supply chain continuity. This reportedly helps ensure consistency of supply and long-term reliability for healthcare customers.
“AmSecure represents a significant advancement in healthcare packaging by delivering APET-based thermoformed solutions that match the mechanical and visual performance of PETG, while offering cost efficiency and a path towards recyclability,” says Art Castro, vice president of Amcor Flexibles Healthcare in North America. “The Amcor solution meets the critical needs of customers without compromising production and line performance.”
In addition to its reported performance and cost aspects, AmSecure is certified to meet or exceed the voluntary requirements for APR Design for Recyclability Recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR).
