Twinplast says it has developed a flame-retardant finish for its fluted sheets which provides enhanced fire protection for a wide range of packaging applications in transport, warehouse and industrial environments.
The company applies the finish to a range of custom manufactured solutions with flame retardancy standards independently certified by Warringtonfire’s Certifire scheme, said to assure the performance, quality, reliability and traceability of fire protection products. Twinplast states the treatment comprises halogen-free chemical additives which increase fire resistance without posing environmental or health risks.
Toby Garrett, managing director at Twinplast, said:
“To ensure reliable safety and compliance, it’s vital to check that a product’s flame retardancy standards are certified by an independent third party which has authorisation to test and certify. Warringtonfire is a UKAS-accredited body which is recognised by regulatory authorities worldwide. It’s an internationally respected mark of fire safety and one of the most authoritative in the industry, so customers can be 100% confident in the flame retardancy standards of our products.”
In March the company announced it was helping a leading honeybee supplier transport live pollinators in bespoke corrugated polypropylene shipping boxes, designed to protect the bees while minimizing weight and transport costs. The box claims to withstand the demands of transportation while resisting water, chemicals, and grease to avoid contamination.
In response to plastic waste concerns in the logistics sector, earlier this year 2nd Level Global Solutions revealed its Solaris range of 100% paper-based, recyclable and water-resistant thermal pallet covers that protect palletized goods against temperature fluctuations in transit. Its white reflective coating is said to achieve a ‘superior’ thermal performance with a micro-convective air pocket providing additional insulation.
