Novolex has announced its ‘recyclable’ food packaging containers, reportedly made with a minimum of 10% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
Manufactured by Novolex brand Waddington North America (WNA), the new products include various sizes of dessert cups, tamper-evident containers, cake containers and bakery clamshells.
“We are proud to add to our growing number of products manufactured with recycled content,” said Stephen Kapantais, director of technology for rigid plastics at Novolex. “Sustainability is critical to the future of our industry, and we are committed to creating even more innovative products to reduce our impact on the environment and support the circular economy.”
The products include Signature dessert cups, transparent cups available in three sizes with a universal lid, all made with polyethylene terephthalate (PET); CakePak bases and lids, clear containers with the brand’s EZ Release™ system with lift tabs and bases for various cake designs; BreakAway tamper-evident containers, designed to keep food safe and secure with a tamper-evident feature indicating when the top has been removed; and multi-use clamshells, clear containers with a secure closure and tight seal to keep food fresh.
Back in 2022, Novolex launched its RollStar EZ Open Produce Bags, also available as a certified compostable, and in July this year NOVA Chemicals announced plans for its first mechanical recycling facility to process post-consumer plastic films into its SYNDIGO recycled polyethylene, with the facility being operated by Novolex.
