Hilex, a Novolex brand, has announced the launch of RollStar EZ Open Produce Bags that use a proprietary solution to prevent sticking, making them easier to dispense and open, while they are also available as certified compostable.
According to Novolex, the RollStar EX Open Produce Bags are designed to solve the challenge of produce bags that “stick” together. The proprietary recipe reportedly allows the bags to be opened easily by shoppers.
Novolex adds that the compact dispenser makes it simple for shoppers to take one bag at a time, meaning they only take the bags they need and waste is potentially reduced. According to Novolex, the universal dispenser is narrow and can fit a variety of spaces, as well as being compatible with most roll bags.
Harry Wilfong, manager of technology – flexible poly for Novolex, explains: “As shoppers, we’ve all struggled to open produce bags, rubbing the end of the bag between our thumb and fingers, hoping the two sides will separate and the bag will open.
“RollStar EZ Open Produce Bags solve this frustration. It’s amazing just how simple and easy it is to open these bags and place produce inside.”
Novolex says that the new bags come in a wide variety of sizes and gauges for fruit and vegetables, including versions certified as compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). The RollStar bags are also available in version designed for meat, fresh seafood, and baked goods.
In addition, Novolex claims that the Star Seal bottom bags are leak-proof and stronger than conventional flat seal bags.
The company also offers the range with custom fixtures and custom prints. The bags can apparently be made at multiple manufacturing facilities, helping to ensure business continuity for single-source customers.
The RollStar EX Open Produce Bags will be featured at the Novolex booth 4621 at IDDBA 2022, the International Dairy Deli Bakery show, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, from the 5th to the 7th of June 2022.
Novolex brand, Waddington Europe, has recently launched the mono-material Pariah tray for meat, fish, and poultry that uses raised teeth along the sealing flange to eliminate the need for a layer of PE or adhesive. Last year, Novolex acquired Vegware, a provider of compostable foodservice packaging.
