Industrial marking and coding systems company Markem-Imaje has provided a data management coding solution to Italian snack producer Fiorentini, said to demonstrate ‘great flexibility’ and real-time exchange capacity.
Fiorentini’s regulatory controls for its products range from raw materials to processes, and this is where Markem-Imaje’s CoLOS solution comes into play, allowing the automatic sending of the right message to the correct packaging with respect to the item in production, while ensuring prompt assistance when needed.
The solution communicates in parallel with management and industrial automation programs. The CoLOS software is said to enable variable coding on each individual item, according to the information exchanged with the management system managed by the factory’s automation supervisors. Fiorentini adds that Markem-Imaje’s printing and data management solution has helped improve its production efficiency and traceability.
We heard from Markem-Imaje earlier this year in an edition of the Spotlight, where Stephen Gryczka, director of strategy and corporate development, explained how manufacturers can utilize the GS1 Digital Link barcode to improve production efficiency and profitability. Gryczka says that implementing Digital Link barcodes provides manufacturers with opportunities for efficiency gains including accelerated data management, enhanced track and trace and production management.
This summer saw Unilever, Amcor, and Asahi are among the first to trial Deepnest, Greyparrot’s ‘world-first’ AI waste intelligence platform that provides brands with product-level recyclable waste data and addresses knowledge gaps. Using Greyparrot Analyzer AI-camera systems in material recovery facilities, it follows packaging through the waste system and records which units are sorted, recycled, or lost.
