Abriso Jiffy and BridgeInsight have revealed Jiffy FlexiBag, a paper-based e-commerce solution that flexes to the size of the product being shipped, in an effort to eliminate unnecessary packaging and reduce waste.
Jiffy FlexiBag features an expandable gusset, HeXpand, that stretches to accommodate the size of such products as shoe boxes. The partners anticipate that this feature will negate the need for oversized boxes and excess material to fill empty space, thus optimizing packaging designs and minimizing the amount of waste generated.
The pack also featured honeycomb cushioning to protect the product in transit. Additionally, Abriso Jiffy claims that Jiffy FlexiBag combines its ‘renowned’ drop strength and resistance with a low environmental impact.
In the future, Abriso Jiffy and BridgeInsight intend to continue their collaboration and develop a whole sustainability-minded packaging portfolio to fulfil the changing demands on the market.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the Jiffy FlexiBag to the UK market first,” said Vincent Tarry, general manager at Abriso Jiffy UK & Ireland. “We firmly believe that innovation should be born from the needs of our customers.
“BridgeInsight’s extensive research clearly showed us the strong desire for right-sized packaging, increased sustainability and reliable product protection. Our creation of this groundbreaking bag is in direct response to that need – and a continuation of Abriso Jiffy’s commitment to not only sustainable right-sized solutions but also, crucially, meeting our customers’ needs.”
In other news, Mondi’s Advantage StretchWrap is an uncoated material made with 100% kraft paper. Various industry players have adopted the solution in a bid to replace conventional, hard-to-recycle plastic stretch films; a recent example is Mondi’s collaboration with Meurer to implement the stretch wrap into the new TrayWrap solution, which has been adopted by a coffee brand to secure twelve packages of coffee for transportation across Sweden.
Fourniture Industrie Service also offers bubble wrap made of recycled kraft paper. Aiming to serve as an alternative to honeycomb structures or embossed paper, it is set to protect breakable products in storage and delivery processes while meeting increasing demand for environmentally consicous packaging designs.
