EcoCortec has revealed a post-consumer recycled (PCR) version of its VpCI-126 HP UV Shrink Film in partnership with Jakob Schober, aimed at protecting metals from corrosion for up to three years.

EcoCortec is a European subsidiary of Cortec Corporation, a global corrosion inhibitor manufacturer specializing in anticorrosion packaging. The VpCI-126 HP UV Shrink Film PCR is said to combine high strength resins with ultraviolet light stabilizers (UV), vapour phase corrosion inhibitor technology and 30% high-quality PCR content. The film reportedly protects against rust and corrosion for up to three years.

The film is apparently suited for transit staging and lay-up of equipment including equipment with large void spaces, multiple metals, and complex geometries. The transparency allows the parts to be viewed without breaking the seal. EcoCortec says the metal parts receive continuous protection against salt air and humid environments, moisture, aggressive industrial atmospheres, and dissimilar metal corrosion.

EcoCortec’s Croatian plant entered a recycling partnership with its distributor Jakob Schober of Waldorf, Germany in 2024. Plastic scrap from Waldorf is returned to EcoCortec’s plant in Beli Manastir.

EcoCortec states the partnership enables the recovery and reuse of plastic scrap, incorporating it back into high-quality finished goods. Upon arrival from the German facility, the recycled polymer is inspected at EcoCortec, re-granulated using reprocessing equipment, and tested in the lab.

Eviosys unveiled a new addition to its Orbit jar closure range last year, aiming to improve the accessibility of metal packaging. The new closure is designed to be opened without force, with the outer ring acting as a shock-absorber that protects the seal.

At the beginning of this year, Hoffmann Neopac stated it had received a binding offer for its metal division and was considering the sale of its business unit to an international company with a ‘strong presence’ in metal packaging. The potential new owner would take over the production site in Dronten (the Netherlands) including all employees and continue existing customer contracts.
