AWA and AIPIA

Alexander Watson Associates (AWA), a market intelligence and insights firm specializing in the packaging, materials and specialty papers sectors has announced its acquisition of the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association (AIPIA), aiming to expand its reach in smart packaging and labelling solutions.

By integrating AIPIA into its portfolio, AWA hopes to improve its market intelligence and advisory capabilities and broaden the range of services available to clients. The company adds that the acquisition will merge its market insights and analytical capabilities with AIPIA’s active and intelligent packaging expertise and continue to expand the AIPIA & AWA Global Congress event.

The collaboration will strengthen both entities’ capabilities in offering business intelligence, networking opportunities and events that address the needs of stakeholders across the value chain.

“We are excited to welcome AIPIA into the AWA family,” said Corey M Reardon, president and CEO of AWA. “The active and intelligent packaging sector is at the forefront of technological advancement, and this acquisition reflects our commitment to providing our clients with unparalleled access to the latest information, trends and insights.”

In partnership with Belgian companies deSter, Aucxis, CupNation, and Weezevent, the festival replaced all single-use drinkware with cups carrying an embedded RFID chip linked to its cashless system. At the point of purchase, attendees paid a deposit of one Pearl per cup, automatically registered to their festival bracelet or card.

Earlier this month, food waste technology company Limetrack announced it had raised over €1 million to scale production and deployment of its Smart bins, designed to automatically weigh and report waste and carbon emissions. The bins aim to help businesses cut costs, reduce carbon and meet regulatory requirements.
