The IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e.V. , German Association for Plastics Packaging and Films, and Elipso, the French Plastic & Flexible Packaging Association, agreed to further develop their partnership. In early July a first workshop of the teams of both associations took place in Paris.
The associations plan to bundle their forces especially in the fields of eco design, market development and the image of plastics packaging. Another important issue to be tackled together is marine litter. “As national associations we have been speaking successfully for our respective members for many years”, explains Dr. Jürgen Bruder, Managing Director of IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen. “However, we are aware of increasing challenges on European level, first of all regarding environment and sustainability, which can only be met in very close cooperation.”
„We decided to go further in our cooperation and to work more closely with our German colleagues in order to share knowledge, experiences and to issue some common positions on various topics. Elipso and IK want an „Europe en marche“ said Emmanuel Guichard, Managing Director of Elipso. Both associations have been cooperating since 2011. In addition to mutual experience exchange and the coordination of joint positions, further common projects are envisaged. Flagship of the bilateral cooperation so far is the PackTheFuture Award for sustainable innovations of the plastics packaging industry. In 2018 the prize will be awarded for the 4th time.
