Premium spirits label manufacturers, The Label Makers, have recently created a new look label for a home-grown artisan small batch gin distillery, 3 Pugs Gin.
The brainchild of a husband and wife duo, Warrington-based 3 Pugs Gin started life as a hobby that has since grown into a successful craft distilling business. The name for the business comes from the couple’s other passion in life - pugs.
After selling their first batch of London Dry Gin in November 2016, presented in an unusual slanted ‘drunken’ bottle, the distillery looked for guidance and support in taking their brand to the next level. Inspired by their work for leading drinks brands and on recommendation from an existing distillery customer, 3 Pugs Gin’s founders approached The Label Makers and a brand makeover process commenced.
With illustration-style design by York-based Cann Creative, the label was digitally printed face stock, incorporating a reverse-sided print to allow for an image to be viewed when looking through the bottle. Embellishments including foiling and high build tactile printing were added to help the brand maximise a premium aesthetic.
The shape of the label itself was unique to complement the slanted bottle. This was achieved by angling the bottom die-lines to follow the contours of the base of the bottle.
3 Pugs Gin’s co-founder, Christine Ditchfield, said: “From our retail customers through to our wholesale/distributor operation, the response to our new branding has been awesome. Orders have increased, which have also been helped by our new blackcurrant blend.
“The Label Makers have been wonderful to work with, meeting promises and supporting us to achieve our perfect branding. We are delighted with the service.”
The Label Makers will be showcasing their unique premium labels at the Packaging News Live Spirits Summit Edinburgh on Thursday 16 November, on Stand 9.
