Tri-Wall Circular has announced the launch of its YOYOBin Adjustable, said to be the first modular, foldable plastic container specifically designed to address the needs of the automotive and industrial supply chain.
Apparently, the YOYOBin Adjustable’s modular design enables users to adjust the length of the container with 4 changeable size options – 1210mm, 1350mm, 1500mm and 1670mm. The foldable container is available in 5 different heights, from 600mm to 1100mm.
Tri-Wall Circular says its fully-recyclable containers remove the need for multiple packaging options for different part sizes as the YOYOBin Adjustable adapts with four configurable sizes, aiming to reduce packaging waste and streamline operations by minimising inventory and handling requirements across the supply chain. The company adds that the containers tailors to varying part dimensions, reducing the need for multiple containers, and all sizes and configurations have been designed to optimize transportation footprints when erect and folded.
With the new containers, Tri-Wall Circular seeks to maximize warehouse storage space and minimize return transport costs, reducing expenses for suppliers and OEMs. By reducing the weights in trucks and ISO containers, the company says the fuel and emissions savings equate to €300 per journey on average.
Back in April, Carrefour Belgium, Cornet Beer and DW Reusables developed a returnable six-pack for beer, following the new reusable packaging regulations set out in the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR). Launched with the support of VLAIO and Living Lab, the pack is ‘fully brandable’ and can be returned via TOMRA’s reverse vending machines.
A few months later, Interzero announced it would be utilizing reusable boxes from German startup hey circle in an effort to reduce waste and save CO2 emissions in package shipping. The boxes are designed for 50 cycles, tested for a stacking pressure of 150 kg, and can be loaded with up to 12 and 15 kg respectively.
