Seeking to reduce packaging waste, Evolve Organic Beauty has launched two refills of its shower products in Pulpex’s fibre-based bottles, apparently marking their first-ever commercial use in personal care.
Aiming to give brands the opportunity to create fully recyclable packaging that can embody design aesthetics without compromising on sustainability, Evolve has introduced two of its shower products in 550ml refill sizes.
The new bottles for the African Orange Aromatic Hand & Body Wash and Superfood Shine Shampoo products allow customers to refill at home, seeking to reduce packaging waste and enable the bottles to be recycled alongside paper and cardboard.

Becoming the world’s first commercial users of Pulpex’s sustainable bottles is a major milestone in our journey to drive positive change in the beauty industry.”
Earlier this month, Zipform Packaging developed a bottle made with 95% wood-based fibre and over 50% post-consumer recycled content, replacing the conventional plastic liner with a moisture and oxygen-resistant barrier layer to improve recyclability. Due to the absence of plastic components, the bottle is expected to offer a high fibre yield when recycled.
In February NBCo launched the Fast Forward 50 initiative, aiming to help brands transition from single-use plastic to fibre bottles and provide a ‘viable, high-performance alternative’ to plastic. Made from bamboo and bagasse, NBCo’s fibre bottles are said to offer high durability and strong barrier protection against moisture and oxygen.
