BOBST launches the MASTERLINE DRO, a full line solution that it says will provide convertors with high-volume production on simple boxes and added-value packaging with qualitative printing and die-cutting.
According to BOBST, the new machine encompasses the production line from pre-feeder to palletiser and incorporates the latest technology from the company, including 10 patents. The company says it also features high-quality inside-outside printing in a single pass, as well as complex die-cutting capabilities.
The MASTERLINE DRO reportedly offers “exceptional” productivity, with the potential to reach outputs of more than 40 million square metres per year. In addition, BOBST claims that customers can expect a 15% improvement in the box compression test (BCT), which could represent a saving on paper use.
The machine has two quality control systems that enables printing register consistency during setup or production, according to the company. BOBST adds that Start & Go provides fully automated set-up multicolour jobs with automatic compensation for irregularity, while Lead & Print apparently guarantees print to print and print to cut consistency with compensation for cardboard irregularity during production.
BOBST says that the MASTERLINE DRO also has an built-in dust collection system that helps to guarantee printing quality and a die-cutting efficiency that ejects over 99.9% of die-cut waste.
Additionally, the machine is reportedly designed for easy set up and operation, allowing for maximum uptime with minimum effort. BOBST says users are able to handle the whole line with an intuitive operating system and quicker order changeover.
BOBST claims that the MASTERLINE DRO’s robust, heavy-duty design offers a reduced amount of wear to the company’s machine parts, while standardised spare parts, an intuitive maintenance menu, and easy access to all parts of the machine apparently make maintenance cost-efficiency if required.

Earlier this year, BOBST announced its ‘Generation 2.0’ samples of high barrier flexible packaging solutions intended to replace non-recyclable high barrier multi-material packaging with mono-material alternatives designed for recycling.
