Addressing the need to find new sustainable solutions, monta, a German manufacturer and one of the leading suppliers of self-adhesive tape for packaging and industrial applications worldwide, has launched a new self-adhesive tape, monta biopack®.
According to the company, based in the Allgäu region in the South of Germany, this is the first certified sustainable self-adhesive tape produced in Germany. monta biopack® is made from roughly ninety percent renewable resources: The film is biobased, and the natural rubber adhesive consists of predominantly renewable raw materials. Under industrial composting conditions, this adhesive tape with a sustainable outlook biodegrades within a few months, closing the natural recycling loop.
TÜV Austria has tested these specific properties and has awarded monta biopack® its “OK COMPOST INDUSTRIAL” mark. This monta innovation meets the strict requirements regarding compostability, biodegradability, ecotoxicity and material properties of standards DIN EN 13432, ASTM D 6400-04, AS 4736 (2006) and ISO 17088 (2012), supporting its sustainability credentials.
The environmentally friendly monta biopack® is designed to offer strong benefits to make it suitable for many applications, for example a robust carrier with low elongation, alongside a natural rubber adhesive allows for reliable adhesion to varied surfaces. The adhesive tape is tearable by hand and designed to be easy to unwind and apply. With a temperature range of -30°C to +70°C short-term it plays in the league of the most resistant adhesive tapes. monta biopack® is therefore suitable for permanent closure of medium heavy to heavy cardboard boxes and can also be used in packaging machines. It can also be applied for sealing biodegradable bags and films and for bundling flowers and garden waste.
The latest monta development is created for floristry and horticulture, manufacturers of organic products, the green eCommerce business, organic retailers and anyone putting value on sustainability. monta biopack® can easily be recognised by its new “Green Line“ logo in the product core.
