BillerudKorsnäs has launched Pure Performance, a white top kraftliner that it says combines “high strength, excellent printability, and purity in one material”.
Pure Performance is one of the first products to utilise BillerudKorsnäs’ KM7 board machine.
The company claims that its new kraftliner can provide material reduction and “extraordinary strength”, thanks to its three-ply construction. The top ply contains short white fibres optimized for printability, the bottom ply has unbleached long fibres for strength, and the middle ply is used to create bulk with the aim of maximizing stiffness and minimizing washboarding.
“The three-ply construction of Pure Performance enables great opportunities to optimize liner strength and to go down one grammage step compared to traditional white top kraftliner grades on the market. The combination of this superior strength and qualitative printability makes Pure Performance a unique product that offers true sustainability savings and packaging material reduction,” says Rolf Gustafsson, business segment director of containerboard at BillerudKorsnäs.
Pure Performance is the latest addition to the company’s family of Pure Liners, all of which are reportedly produced from 100% primary fibres, sourced from responsible forestry. Primary fibres are extraordinarily strong, which apparently allows the customers to use a lower grammage. According to the company, 100% primary fibres also enable Pure Performance to meet the toughest food contact standards, therefore allowing it to comply with demanding product and food safety regulations.
