Canadian drinks company ROAR Organic has teamed up with Plastic Bank to remove one bottle from the environment for every bottle sold, hoping to help prevent plastic entering the ocean.
Plastic Bank is a social enterprise organization aiming to fight plastic pollution and poverty. To date, the ROAR Organic brand has reportedly prevented 4.8 million bottles from entering the ocean, extracted 96,000 kg of plastic, and positively impacted over 33 communities.
The company has also announced its latest Dragon Fruit Punch flavour, containing electrolytes, vitamins C, B5, B6, and B12, and antioxidants on a coconut water base. Dragon Fruit Punch is currently rolling out to stores nationwide and available for purchase online from the Roar Organic website, Amazon and QVC.
ROAR Organic will be exhibiting at Natural Products Expo West from March 5th-7th at Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, United States.
SIG collaborated with Plastic Bank and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit last year on a project aiming to change Egypt’s recycling landscape and increase security for waste collection workers. The partners hope to collect 700 metric tons of beverage cartons throughout the three years of the initiative.
At the end of 2024, members of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste were accused of producing over 1,000 times more plastic than they have cleaned up in its first five years, according to an investigation from Greenpeace. However, the Alliance argued that there was ‘no factual basis’ for the greenwashing allegations it faced. Founded in 2019, it originally pledged to invest $1.5 billion into its activities, which included removing 15 million tonnes of waste.
