Ingersoll Rand is aiming to reduce energy costs, downtime and improve efficiency for manufacturing plants with its Ecoplant compressor controls platform.
Ecoplant uses continuous monitoring to adjust compressed air systems in response to real-time demand changes, which Ingersoll Rand says helps to reduce associated carbon emissions and identify maintenance concerns. The system is said to be compatible with all compressor technologies and designed for sites with multiple compressors using 300kW and above.
It is also available for other manufacturers’ models and can be retrofitted to existing compressed air installations. The company adds that Ecoplant ensures pressure levels are stabilized intelligently and that only the necessary amount of electricity is used, helping operators to reduce energy consumption from compressed air generation.
The platform includes a customizable dashboard with real-time analytics and energy insights, designed to facilitate smart decision making on the shop floor. In addition, its cloud-based remote access and ‘unlimited data logging’ means teams can reportedly monitor and manage performance from anywhere in the world, aspiring to keep maintenance efficient and productivity high.
In related news, last year Asahi Kasei Engineering (AEC) launched a cloud-based computer aided engineering (CAE) solution platform, with apps to predict the crash and impact behaviour of polymers. The company believes that precise simulation of material behaviour will help to enhance product design and reduce time and costs for material and application development.
As part of our Innovation Spotlight series, Zeigo outlined the importance of collecting carbon emissions data and explained how its Zeigo Activate software platform provides carbon emissions-related operational measures and actions. Zeigo states that by proactively measuring and managing its carbon footprint, companies can stay ahead of evolving compliance requirements and safeguard against potential legal repercussions.
