HP Inc. has revealed its HP Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) 108mm Bulk Printing Solution, which is intended to ‘disrupt’ industry packaging processes with efficient, versatile, and sustainability-minded printing technology.
As the latest development to its TIJ 4.0 Printhead technology, the HP TIJ 108mm Solution is designed for high speeds, high resolution, and throw distances of up to 10mm, adhering to a range of wide-swath, high-volume printing applications without stitching.
The solution can be used to print ‘more extensive’ 1D and 2D barcodes and characters, both vertically and horizontally, at the required readability – and, apparently, at the highest level of barcode scores for its speed.
Its printhead offers built-in pressure regulation in pursuit of design flexibility with the custom positioning of the ink delivery system.
Even when the printhead is left uncapped for 24 to 48 hours, the nozzle is said to guarantee fresh ink and result in clean, crisp prints. Its patented micro recirculation technology is powered by HP’s Smart Servicing Solution and is said to cut down on pen servicing while resolving decap issues.
Two bulk supply systems with auto switching can be installed into the system. This allows supplies to be automatically switched when depleted, and is set to simplify complicated procedures, minimize reliance on a highly trained workforce, and unlock constant production.
HP highlights the system’s low part replacement costs and lower costs per print; its bulk cartridges apparently ensure that the system’s cost of ownership aligns with alternatives on the market.
The HP TIJ 108mm Solution also claims to transition away from traditional labelling processes that can threaten the recyclability of packaging. HP TIJ technology is thought to negate the need for label inventories, as well as achieve extra cost savings and productivity benefits.
“We continue to invest R&D resources in TIJ technology to drive meaningful innovations that enhance productivity, output quality, and unbeatable ease of use,” says Philippe Lesage, VP and GM, Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions at HP. “We are excited to offer our customers new ways to navigate an increasingly complex packaging landscape with our growing portfolio of TIJ-enabled solutions.”
“The HP 108mm Printhead has been specifically designed to accelerate overall design time and market readiness for OEMs,” says Pat Harnett, Director of Portfolio, Strategy & Development, Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions at HP. “OEMs can easily integrate the Printhead to their systems and configure it for the application with the simplified enabler kit from HP.
“The Printhead and the Ink cartridge can be replaced in minutes without operator training. This allows our customer base to take advantage of continuous printing, reduced downtime, and more seamless production to help offset rising labor and material costs.”
The news comes after ANYTRON released ANY-PRESS, its compact, all-in-one label and packaging press for continuous label printing and laminating functions, at Labelexpo Europe 2023.
Fiery also developed the Fiery FS600 Pro platform to help print providers automate job preparation and processing and enhance print quality, security, and efficiency in digital print applications.
