Freudenberg Medical is applying its extrusion and moulding capabilities to a line of single-use tubing and bottle cap assemblies, y-connector manifolds, and more, seeking to secure and streamline fluid transfer and other biopharma processes.
The manufacturer explains that bottle cap assemblies with y-connector tubing are commonly utilized in laboratory or cGMP bioprocesses for critical fluid transfer applications. Y-connector overmoulds are designed to facilitate an unobstructed flow within a critical fluid path – and, unlike standard fluid couplings, fittings, and connectors, they are thought to prevent leaks.
Freudenberg’s new tubing, moulded components, and systems are intended for use in bioprocessing, biotechnology, lab processes, GMP manufacturing, small batch processes, cell and gene therapy, and the production of mRNA, biosimilars, and regenerative proteins.
Apparently, all its assemblies are cleanroom manufactured according to customer specifications. Freudenberg says that ‘validated production processes with proven process capabilities will continuously ensure consistent overmoulding of y-manifolds on customer-specified tube ends’.
The new solutions are set to complement the PharmaFocus Premium line, which constitutes ‘high-purity’, platinum-cured silicone tubing and sanitary ends for single-use systems.
Freudenberg will be attending the ISPE Boston Products Show, CPHI Milan, and CPHI & PMEC India.
Another recent development in the pharmaceutical space saw Berry unveil a range of closures and couplings to be used alongside its Politainer combi pack. The solution is intended to achieve an airtight closed system for the safe dispensing of sensitive liquids.
SnapSlide has also designed a new line of no-torque caps for adult consumers with physical disabilities. The caps stay fixed to the vials when opened for safe, convenient, easy, and metered dosing – all without compromising on the pack’s child safety features, the company says.
