At interpack 2026, LEIBINGER will present a smarter approach to coding and marking, rooted in rethinking established CIJ conventions and supported by long-term development investment. The technology enables reliable in-line printing across a wide range of substrates, delivering consistently strong results in day-to-day production with easy-to-use plug-and-print solutions—whether in food & beverage, cosmetics, or pharma.
One topic shaping the packaging industry is the transition from 1D barcodes to GS1 2D codes. Printing reliable, scannable codes on diverse materials remains a key challenge – especially in view of future requirements such as the digital product passport. Data-rich 2D codes with variable content must be printed directly on the production line, increasing demands on print precision, contrast, and process stability. LEIBINGER supports customers with strong application expertise, ensuring reliable readability and efficient integration with minimal impact on existing lines.
LEIBINGER printers use intelligent hydraulic and ink management to keep ink continuously circulating in a closed loop. A unique dual-chamber pressure tank system maintains stable viscosity and constant pressure while avoiding the wear associated with gear pumps used by many conventional printers. At the same time, an automatic ink agitator keeps pigmented inks moving to reduce sedimentation and support long-term contrast stability, enabling maximum process stability, less maintenance, lower resource consumption, and a low total cost of ownership.
