International plastics machinery and toolmaking specialists, KIEFEL GmbH, Freilassing, and innovations company watttron GmbH, Freital, agree on comprehensive and long-term development and research cooperation.

The goal of this close cooperation is to develop future-oriented solutions for the industrial moulding of plastics. These will allow a currently unmatched level of quality and efficiency, especially in packaging production.

watttron’s heating technology is the basis for the development goals. This allows precise heating of surfaces with the aid of square heating pixels. Each pixel can be controlled individually. This allows targeted, uneven heating of the film, and the flow behaviour of the plastic film to be optimally adapted to the desired shape. This ensures uniform wall thickness of mouldings. As a result, the processor can use a much thinner plastic film, significantly reducing energy consumption.

“We are excited about our partner’s technology and look forward to contributing our industry experience to develop marketable solutions for the key industries of packaging, medical and automotive. This collaboration is a perfect example of the pioneering spirit of our company”, comments Thomas J. Halletz, Managing Director of KIEFEL GmbH, on the signing of the contract.

The internationally successful business activities of KIEFEL GmbH in the packaging industry will serve as a basis for industrial development and successful marketing of the new products within the scope of this cooperation. In addition, the development teams of KIEFEL GmbH and subsidiaries Bosch Sprang and Mold & Matic will be included in the

Marcus Stein, Managing Director and one of the founders of watttron, adds, “We are delighted to have gained such a significant player in the industry for our vision. Together we will make a great contribution to the future viability of the technology.”  More info:www.kiefel.com
