In the latest edition of the Spotlight, Joan Perez Pericot, vice president and general manager of HP’s Industrial Print Software & Solutions Business, details how the company’s automated presses can help print service providers (PSPs) improve print production and solve data challenges.
Automation is no longer a future aspiration but a current reality transforming print production. HP’s portfolio of digital presses has moved well beyond ‘potential’. Print service providers (PSPs) need to look no further than the HP portfolio of highly automated presses, robotic solutions like MoviGo and HP PrintOS and Site Flow solutions to see that automation is here and now, driving real and transformative change for PSPs and brands alike.
2024: a monumental year for print automation
2024 was a standout year for HP PrintOS and Site Flow. More than 650 million items were produced through Site Flow alone, reflecting its consistent growth since 2016. Designed for the high-velocity, SKU-diverse web-to-print market, Site Flow helps PSPs handle unpredictable volumes of micro-orders with fast turnarounds and direct-to-consumer shipping. In fact, during the holiday peak, over 150 million items and six million orders were processed.
This growth owes its success to the thousands of brands and PSPs that are already integrating Site Flow as HP continues to expand our network. Seamless integration with PSPs through end-to-end workflow automation makes onboarding fast and scalable.
HP PrintOS also continues its expansion, helping PSPs solve data challenges and optimize production floors. Now serving more than 28,000 organizations with over 44,000 connected devices globally, HP PrintOS and Site Flow together provide a comprehensive automation solution, empowering PSPs to scale their businesses efficiently.
Investing in the future of the print industry
HP’s continued investment in PrintOS and Site Flow is rooted in a mission to help customers navigate complex industry challenges and grow sustainably. The rise in e-commerce and demand for customized products and fast delivery is pushing PSPs to adopt new print-on-demand capabilities. To support this shift, HP established the Industrial Print Software Solutions Division, focused on AI-powered automation and streamlining the fragmented print production ecosystem.
Through continued investment in innovation and network of partners across the value chain, HP helps PSPs cut costs, enhance productivity, and build more collaborative, resilient businesses. One example is HP’s partnership with Canva. This collaboration connects Canva users with HP’s global network of PSPs, enabling seamless design-to-print experiences. Integrated with Site Flow and HP PrintOS, Canva automates production and shipping workflows. With PrintOS features, Canva’s Print Operations team efficiently manages a large global SKU catalog and optimizes PSP collaboration.
Leading the AI transformation
From the outset, HP’s software division has prioritized AI innovation. AI capabilities are already enhancing operations across HP’s ecosystem. For instance, customer Elanders uses Auto Alert Agent (AAA) 2.0 to reduce production time, saving up to an hour for every 80,000 impressions, while lowering customer complaints and returns by up to 7%.
AI is not just about boosting press productivity; it enables a complete re-invention of the production floor. Smarter workflows, simplified operations, and data-driven decisions help PSPs run more efficiently, offer new services and meet shifting market demands. This transformation is essential for long-term success in a competitive market.
What we achieve with our customers infusing HP’s technology is evidence of how HP solutions are setting a new standard for AI and automation. At the end of 2024, HP was awarded Keypoint Intelligence’s Buyers Lab (BLI) 2024-2025 Pacesetter Award in Production Workflow: Artificial Intelligence. This award recognizes HP’s strategy to embed AI throughout the production flow and deliver industry-leading solutions.
At Hunkeler Innovation Days, HP unveiled the first-ever live end-to-end finishing line for book production. This demonstration combined HP Indigo and HP PageWide technologies within the Intelligent Automation ecosystem, showing how digital print production is being redefined.
We invite you to experience HP innovation firsthand and discover how Intelligent Automation is shaping the future of print.
