At the recent ACHEMA 2018 Press Preview, Kai Koch of Romaco presented the manufacturer’s newest technology for coating pharmaceutical products with hot fats and wax.
Kai Koch, Technical Director at Romaco Innojet, spoke on the subject of “New hot melt coating technologies for pharmaceuticals” as part of the lecture series at the recent ACHEMA Press Preview. He presented the new IHD series from Romaco Innojet, which was specially designed for pharmaceutical hot melt coating processes and meets all GMP requirements.
The system simplifies the validation of the cleaning processes: all product-contacted surfaces are accessible and the machine can be cleaned very easily without having to be disassembled. All functional components are integrated in a heatable monobloc for this purpose. A pulsation-free dosing piston, which feeds the hot melt to the Romaco Innojet VENTILUS® processing machine, ensures that the product particles are coated uniformly.
Interested journalists took the opportunity to discuss various background aspects in more detail at the Romaco booth at the accompanying “Market Place” exhibition in the DECHEMA House. The conversations revolved around the great attraction of the hot melt coating process for the pharmaceutical industry. “It’s quite simply because the processing times for applying hot melt coatings are up to 85% shorter compared to aqueous alternatives”, Kai Koch emphasised. “That saves time, energy and money.”
