Bischof + Klein is growing. In the 125th year of its existence, the family-owned company is once again extending its capacities for manufacturing flexible packaging and technical films.

Amongst other items, the film and packaging specialist is investing in two blown film lines at its Lengerich headquarters (1,300 employees) in 2017, one of which will be located in the clean room production facility that has recently been enlarged, as well as in a modern extrusion coating line and a new lamination line. "We are well positioned and want to further expand our position", states executive board member Dr. Volker Pfennig.

With a total of around 2,600 employees, the B+K-GROUP (annual sales 2016: 562 million euros) produces flexible plastic and plastic laminate packaging and technical films at six production plants in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Poland and Saudi Arabia. The 4th and 5th generations of company founder Alwin Klein's descendants are controlling the fate of the company as shareholders and members of the supervisory board.

Together with Hermann Bischof, Alwin Klein founded "Papierfabrik und Prägeanstalt Bischof & Klein" in 1892. The company began manufacturing paper sacks in 1922. 1950 saw an increase in the production of small-sized packaging for consumer goods. At the beginning of the 60s, B+K was one of the pioneers of plastic processing. In the 1980s, the company pushed forwards the production of flexible plastic consumer packaging, and entered the technical films market. In all of its divisions, Bischof + Klein has long since been regarded as one of the leading suppliers in Europe.

Industrial packaging from B+K is used world-wide. Our customers include major players within the chemicals and pharmaceuticals, agriculture and horticulture, construction and housing, and foodstuffs industries. Increasing demand for high-purity packaging solutions is being met with a special product line from the separate clean room production facility. In the consumer segment, B+K offers highly-converted products for well-known brand manufacturers in the agriculture and horticulture, construction and housing, hygiene, foodstuffs, pet food and detergents and cleaning materials industries. Focus in the Technical Films division is placed on the production of surface protection films, technical laminates and films for lamination.

Technicians and development engineers have access to a unique range of production opportunities at B+K Lengerich. Dr. Volker Pfennig regards Bischof + Klein's sustainable corporate policy as the reason for the company's unusually long success story. "In recent years, B+K has succeeded in generating record sales. And we will almost certainly continue to work intensively on the topic of sustainability and remain the pioneer. With 125 years of history behind us, this is our promise for the future."
