As summer rolls into autumn, change is in the air. The weather gets cooler, the leaves change and fall from the trees, and our minds start to drift towards the future and the end of the year. This forward-thinking spirit will be harnessed by London Packaging Week, one of the UK’s leading packaging industry events, when thousands of visitors from across the world descend on London’s ExCeL Centre on 11 and 12 September.

Over 4,500 visitors and 190 exhibitors will take to the show floor to make deals, share insights, and inspire each other in one of the packaging industry’s must-attend events.

What sets London Packaging Week apart is not just its size and scale, but the sparkle of luxury sprinkled throughout, adding an extra layer of inspiration to proceedings.

The showcase consists of four co-located events, each one addressing a particular segment of the packaging sector with its own unique sense of style. Visitors seeking luxury packaging innovations will be able to find them at Packaging Première, which connects designers and manufacturers with major international brands.

Meanwhile, attendees will be able to discover the latest in beauty packaging at PCD, the world’s premier event for this industry, and the PLD exhibition will continue to define the future of packaging for premium and luxury beverages. Finally, Food & Consumer Pack showcases innovations in packaging from across the thriving £200 billion market for everyday food, drinks, and FMCG products.

Each showcase shines a spotlight on the very best that the packaging industry has to offer, with every booth bursting with new shapes, sustainable materials, novel closures, dispensing mechanisms, and more.

An unmissable speaker lineup

The unique blend of art, fashion, and engineering that makes up modern packaging innovations means it can be difficult to drag yourself away from the bustling lanes of the show floor – but the packed speaker schedule and networking events provide plenty of motivation. This year’s blockbuster lineup, spread across three conference stages, includes Professor Benjamin Voyer of ESCP Business School, Jude Allan, managing director of OPRL, and Waqas Qureshi, editor of Packaging News.

Meanwhile, delegates have the chance to see William Connolly, senior principal scientist at Diageo, join a panel including Lena Danielsson, break through innovation director at Pernod Ricard, Lauren Mckenzie, head of New Product Development at SA Designer Parfums, and Tanguy Pellen, senior partner at Skarbek, in an eye-opening discussion about beauty and beverage packaging trends.

With many more talks to be announced for both days of the event, this year’s speaker programme is set to be the most insight-packed yet.

We will also get insight into the world of neuromarketing and its impact on packaging and consumer decisions, with Tim Sykes, brand director of Packaging Europe, moderating this panel. Joining Tim will be Iain Amos, strategy and insights partner at Twinings, Leo Hadden, global head of strategy at BrandOpus and finally, neuroscience expert Thom Noble who is co-founder and president of Cloud Army.

The packaging industry is a hotbed of innovation, and London Packaging Week has always focused on bringing the latest and greatest new things to the fore. That’s why the fact that this year’s event will host the inaugural London Packaging Week Innovation Awards is so exciting.

These awards will celebrate some of the best upcoming designs from across the sector, crowning the first-ever winners and featuring all the finalists in a brand-new gallery for attendees to explore. This new exhibit sits alongside the annual Innovation Gallery, which will feature some of the most exciting packaging solutions from the last year and provide a glimpse into where the industry is heading.
