The self-adhesive materials division of HERMA is making its first independent appearance at interpack 2026, placing sustainable labelling solutions at the centre of its presentation.
This comes in response to the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), whose key requirements will become binding on 12 August 2026, increasing pressure across the entire value chain.
Labels are emerging as a key factor in improving recyclability and advancing the circular economy. To address growing complexity, HERMA is introducing its interactive “GreenGuide,” a digital tool that helps users quickly identify suitable self-adhesive materials. It guides label printers, packaging developers, designers, and brand owners through criteria such as recyclability, material compatibility, and regulatory requirements, enabling informed decision-making.
A major focus is on recycling-friendly pressure-sensitive adhesives, particularly the 72Hpw, which has already been certified for compatibility with multiple material streams and supports established recycling processes. HERMA is also showcasing resource-efficient solutions such as linerless labels (InNo-Liner), which eliminate backing material, reducing waste, transport volumes, and disposal costs.
Compostable materials are another highlight: selected paper-based labels, combined with specific adhesives, are suitable for home and garden composting and meet strict standards. Overall, HERMA demonstrates that labels are becoming a key driver of sustainable packaging solutions.
