As part of the generation change within the Bischof + Klein executive board, Dr. Tobias Lührig joined the Lengerich-based packaging and film specialist's management as its chief executive officer on 1st May 2018.

A holder of a doctorate in mechanical engineering, the new CEO will drive the strategic corporate planning's consistent implementation and further development forwards and represent the family-owned company both internally and externally. Following Dr. Volker Pfennig's retirement, he will also take over the central departments that were previously the latter's responsibility. Dr. Volker Pfennig will remain in the company until the end of the year.

Karsten Pax, former managing director of subsidiary company Bischof + Klein Polska amongst other posts, succeeded Dr. Pfennig in his function of operational executive board member for the Industrial Packaging division at the beginning of the year. Within the executive board, the Consumer Packaging division will continue to be managed by Gerd Sundermann, with Manfred Albrecht shouldering responsibility for the Technical Films division.

"Bischof + Klein intends to continue extending its leading position in the growing market of flexible plastic packaging. Filling the position of CEO and ensuring that the operationally responsible executive board members concentrate on strategically processing the Group's important markets is the right approach to achieve this", explained supervisory board chairman Herbert Forker.

With production plants in Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Poland and a total of around 2,700 employees, the B+K Group generated sales of €576 million last year.
