The summer barbeque season is only just around the corner, but for many retailers and food processors their focus will already be on planning for the 2018 BBQ ranges.

Sirane’s oven/BBQ bag is a versatile product and comes with a range of options which make it the perfect cooking bag for people looking to sell into the barbeque sector.

The oven/BBQ bag – which forms part of Sirane’s recently-launched Bags of Ideas campaign - is simple to use, simple to open, cooks food to perfection – and can be used in almost any cooking environment, from ovens to barbecues, griddles to hot plates.

Simon Balderson, Sirane managing director, said: “Our Sira-Cook Supreme cooking bag has so many potential uses – and offers numerous advantages to users, not least the fact that the consumer can cook in the oven instead if the weather doesn’t hold out.

“It is a foil bag capable of withstanding significant direct heat, allowing for its use on a barbecue as well as in an oven. The food will be tender, retain all the juices and flavours as well as the goodness, and could be sold over the counter in the pack.

“For the customer there would be no mess, no smell, and no need to handle the food. The bag can be heat-sealed or folded over, and add genuine value to retail food sales. We’ve also developed a self-seal version of the bag perfect for over-the-counter sales.”The bag is available in a number of sizes and in a standard and non-stick version. It comes with a clear top panel – so users can see what’s being cooked – and can be heat-sealed.

It is perfect for meat, fish, poultry and vegetables – anything that can be cooked in an oven or on a barbecue can be cooked in this bag – and it means people will no longer have to cook separately for meat-eaters and vegetarians, as the bags can sit side by side.

In addition, there are Sirane's new flavoured cooking bag options. The new addition uses a blend of kilned beech mixed with frozen herbs and spices, which are placed in a sachet and slipped below the bag’s siliconized layer, allowing the flavours to transfer during cooking.Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director for food packaging, said: “The range of sizes offered mean we can offer Sira-Cook Supreme as a solution for numerous products. Our oven/BBQ cooking bag has so much potential in so many areas of the retail supply chain. But using the bag as a ‘’bag of flavour’ could really help retailers offer a truly stand-out product.”

We’ve six flavour combinations as standard: onion, mustard & spices; rosemary, juniper & spices; garlic, ginger & spices; mustard, sweet basil & spices; bay leaf, onion and spices, and juniper, pine cone and spices. However, other flavour combinations can be developed.“We’ve some interesting flavours on offer, with the potential to create bespoke flavours for individual customers, so this product has lots of potential – it is very exciting for us.”

“Whether you’re looking to cook a small fillet of fish or a medley of vegetables, Sira-Cook Supreme is the answer – and we’ve managed to make our prices incredibly competitive,” added Jeremy Haydn-Davies, “and other options such as our new fold, packed and sealed (FPS) allow individual packs to be supplied for use as part of DIY meal kits.”

Sira-Cook Supreme are also part of the Thinking-Cooking portfolio – Sirane’s retail kitchen and cooking range – allowing the bags to be stocked as a stand-alone product.
