Interzero’s dual system, Interseroh+, is welcoming consumer goods startup Share into its Recycling Alliance in a move set to help close its raw material loops.

Through the Alliance, Interseroh+ will provide its portfolio of packaging recycling services in hopes of optimizing packaging recyclability, developing new formulations for plastic applications using post-consumer recyclates, and more.

The strategic partners intend to ‘create lasting added value’ in their efforts to optimize Share’s management of recycling and material flow, with their sights also set on licensing Share’s packaging in Germany and Europe.

“Social sustainability is at the heart of our brand,” said Ben Unterkofler, co-founder and member of executive management at Share. “For every Share product we sell, we make a similar charitable donation.

“As a partner of the Interseroh+ Recycling Alliance, we want to focus even more on our environmental responsibility and optimize our packaging strategy as part of a circular economy that works to protect our climate and resources.”

“We are delighted to welcome such an innovative and sustainability-focused company to our Recycling Alliance,” said Frank Kurrat, chief sales officer at Interseroh+. “Together we will not only ensure that Share meets all of its obligations under the Packaging Act and the legal requirements of individual countries within Europe, but also that collected packaging can actually be transformed into new packaging and products wherever possible.”

Prior to this partnership, it was announced that Interzero would receive over €170 million in funding from OMV to build a state-of-the-art, fully automatic sorting plant to produce feedstock for chemical recycling. Its annual capacity was estimated at up to 260,000 tonnes.

Another recent partnership saw Bostik join Nextek’s NEXTLOOPP project in pursuit of a closed loop for food- and INRT-grade recycled polypropylene.
