ABB Robotics has announced the new generation of its IRB 1200 robots for applications including handling, assembly and dispensing, said to improve productivity and efficiency for a wide range of applications.
The new IRB 1200 small robots come in four variants of 5, 7, 8, and 9kg, with the latter suitable for handling larger or heavier parts. Powered by ABB’s OmniCore controller, the company states the new robots can achieve path accuracy to 0.6mm and pose repeatability down to 0.011mm, even for multiple robots at high speeds of up to 1600mm/s.
ABB says the new generation has a 5% faster cycle time making it ideal for high throughput complex applications such as surface finishing, assembly and dispensing, designed for electronics, general industries, automotive electronics and consumer industries. It apparently enables more compact and efficient installation, boosting throughput and efficiency without increasing production footprint.
The latest IRB 1200 is also said to be 20% lighter than the previous generation, aiming to reduce pedestal mounting and energy consumption. It has full access to ABB’s suite of AI-powered software such as RobotStudio, RobotStudio AI Assistant and AppStudio.
In related news, AM Labels introduced an automatic packet feeding system hoping to reduce manual handling requirements and ensure a more efficient labelling process for use in food, pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. The packet feeder has a large hopper infeed and a variable speed control of up to 30 metres per minute, enabling handling of a range of packet sizes and thicknesses.
Ruizhi Machinery unveiled its bread paper bag machine earlier this month, said to achieve cutting speeds of up to 130 bags per minute and aiming to meet the production requirements of small to medium-sized bakeries and bread suppliers. The machine is said to optimize material usage to minimize waste, operates with low energy consumption and requires minimal maintenance, reducing operating costs.
