Ardagh Group is delighted to be recognised with three awards at the Euro CanTech Awards event, held in Milan on 20 March.
The ‘Espresso Monster Coffee Can’ won in the category ‘Decorative/Speciality’ and also attained the ‘Supreme Cup’, the most prestigious Euro CanTech award. The beverage can is produced for the Monster Beverage Company, using Ardagh’s ‘Matte and Mirror Impact’ decoration technique: a world first combining matte and glossy effects on the same can, developed by INX International. The packaging impressed the judges at Euro CanTech with its structured surface and unique feel. The commercialisation of the ink and design was accomplished within a very short timeframe through close collaboration between Monster, Ardagh’s European and North American Metal Beverage divisions, INX and VN Graphics.
The ‘General Line’ category award was won by ‘SpRingLatch®’, an innovative and safe automatic closing system for the Paints & Coatings market. The system enables easy opening & re-closing, without the need for costly closing machines. A unique, patented ‘lock box’ with an integrated spring allows the latch to expand when vertical pressure is applied to the lid. This simple yet ingenious ring seals the lid, but allows the customer to open and re-close pails without effort. The system gained UN qualifications for both 230mm and 286mm diameter pails making them suitable for the filling of hazardous packaged materials and is now also available in 328mm diameter.
