Packaging Europe has announced the winners of its third annual Sustainability Awards, celebrating innovation and creativity that makes significant environmental advances across the CPG supply chain.
Winners in the respective categories are:
Best Practice
Winner: Swedish supermarket ICA for pioneering laser marking of fruit and vegetables, a practice since taken up internationally by companies such as Marks and Spencer.
Cutting Food Waste
Winner: RPC bpi protec for its opaque, breathable X-Hance film, designed to protect, preserve and promote.
Circular Economy
Winner: The Virtuous Circle, coordinated by DuPont, illuminating new business models for recycling of multilayer films.
Runner-up: B-Pack & Dow, Easy Split separable multilayer packaging.
Weight Reduction
Winner: Jindal Films for its multiple downgauging projects.
Runner-up: Coveris, printed Optys bottle.
Bio-Based
Winner: Bosch Packaging Technology & BillerudKorsnäs for Sealed Paper Packaging.
Runner-up: Parkside, Compostable biscuit bag.
Machinery
Winner: CMC Srl for their CartonPack high-speed individually tailored packing of different sized multipacks for the e-commerce segment.
Runner-up: iMould smart IML systems.
…And the overall winner is Papierfabrik Scheufelen its development of packaging papers made from locally sourced, sun-dried grass.
