VPK Packaging UK & Ireland has released a corrugated one-piece stackable packaging solution, aiming to help customers reduce complexity in supply chain, retail and packing environments.
The new StackIT corrugated solution was developed as an alternative to traditional two-piece base and lid formats, with an integrated locking mechanism to help products remain secure during transport, handling and merchandising. It also aims to provide retailers with a practical format for stacked fixture displays.
The solution seeks to reduce unnecessary components and optimize material use. The company states that depending on the existing specification, moving from a two-piece format to a one-piece solution can reduce the amount of packaging required and support lower packaging weight.
VPK Packaging says the solution made its commercial debut supporting an own-label chilled range for a major UK grocery retailer, demonstrating that it can meet the demands of high-volume retail supply chains while remaining straightforward to use for packers, logistics teams and store operators.
StackIT is designed to support a range of product types including pouches, jars, bottles, tubs, tubes and boxed products. The modular format means the structure can be adapted depending on the product with options including crash lock, taped, envelope and kidney lock formats.
The company adds that the pack can be configured depending on whether the item is soft or rigid. Soft products can use a push-down activation method, while hard products can use a pull-up activation method, aiming to support product stability while keeping the format straightforward to assemble and use.

In related news, in April Mondi claimed to have delivered a 10% reduction in logistics and production costs for Turkish technology company Argesim Teknoloji by developing a customized corrugated packaging solution for its sensor-based products. Mondi says that by optimizing box dimensions, strength and ergonomics, it eliminated shipment-related production damage and reduced operational risks across the supply chain.
Last month Boxmaker.Pro introduced SSG1600, a compact side-seam gluer for short-run corrugated box production, hand-glued operations, sample work and more. Typical applications include short-run straight-line side seam work, samples, rework, specials and overflow jobs.
