Syntegon count feeder

Syntegon has announced it will be presenting a new handling solution for cookie packaging, the Syntegon FGCT count feeder, at the iba trade fair in Düsseldorf, taking place from May 18th-22nd 2025.

The company says the solution groups sandwich cookies in the desired quantity and places the products on-edge in trays or directly into the infeed of a flow wrapping machine. The feeder reportedly has gentle handling, is carefully balanced at high speed, guarantees an efficient packaging process and avoids product damage.

Syntegon adds that the cookies will be evenly aligned in the tray or flow wrap, aiming to impress with optimal presentation when the package is opened. Apparently, the solution will be presented to the European market for the first time at iba.

Daniel Bossel, product manager at Syntegon, says: “The industry is facing complex challenges today: A shortage of skilled workers and increasing cost pressure require highly automated solutions that are not only efficient but also very flexible. At the same time, the variety of products is growing - from classic biscuits to health-conscious variants such as gluten-free or sugar-reduced cookies. These products require particularly gentle processing.”

Last year halal meat processor Solmaz Foods partnered with Fortress Technology to utilize four of its metal detectors for food quality control, reducing processing and product waste costs by an estimated 50%. Rapid expansion and increasing sales volumes led to the addition of an in-line Fortress Stealth pipeline metal detector to inspect meat before it is stuffed, cooked, smoked, sliced and eventually packaged.

AM Labels recently introduced an automatic packet feeding system hoping to reduce manual handling requirements and ensure a more efficient labelling process for use in food, pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. The packet feeder has a large hopper infeed and a variable speed control of up to 30 metres per minute, enabling handling of a range of packet sizes and thicknesses.
