STI Group has revealed its Gravity-Feed Tray, designed to combine logistics, product protection and POS presentation within a single unit, ensuring products are always presented in the front row on shelf.
The solution is available as a single unit with one tray and one cover or as a 3-unit pack with 3 trays and 1 cover. Without additional elements or filler pieces, the construction seeks to increase product visibility and drive impulse purchases at the point of sale.
During transport, the cover protects the products and creates a stable, easily stackable unit without empty space. At the point of sale, the packaging can be opened quickly due to its defined perforations and glue points and the integrated folding mechanism transforms it into a sales display.
STI Group says that the gravity-feed function means products automatically slide forward after each removal, keeping them consistently visible, accessible and ready to be taken from the shelf by consumers. Due to the tray’s two-part construction, its material use can be adapted to specific requirements.
The company adds that the Gravity-Feed Tray is suitable for various packaging formats such as cans, jars or folding cartons, as well as single-facing and multi-facing retail applications.
Earlier this year, Ravenwood Packaging teamed up with Troya Alimentos to introduce Mexico’s ‘first’ linerless, tray-based packaging for fresh produce, replacing plastic nets and traditional labels. Troya Alimentos has rolled out 20 SKUs including avocados, tomatoes, citrus, mangos and seasonal produce, packaged in carton trays with linerless labels.
The following month, Stora Enso added an unbleached variant to its Trayforma tray board range, as well as reducing the basis weight across the existing range – aiming for a natural aesthetic and improved material efficiency. According to Stora Enso, it is the first brown tray board to support oven heating – withstanding temperatures of up to 220°C with a transparent PET coating.
