Plockmatic Group has unveiled its ColorCut FB9550 Pro-T die cutter, designed to maximize productivity and deliver ‘ultimate’ material control with its 5-tool head and process thin self-adhesive labels and media up to 3mm thick for folders, packaging, point of sale and labels.
The company says the FB9550 Pro-T supports active tangential cutting, active tangential creasing, active wheel perforating, kiss-cutting, die-cutting with passive drag knives and debossing. Its tool head allows up to 3 concurrent operations and the tool slots can apply up to 2.5kg of force, suitable for active tangential operations or highlighting features on the page with a special effect deboss.
Plockmatic adds that the third slot applies up to 1.3kg of force and the necessary resolution for consistent kiss-cutting of labels and stickers, and the patented dual-camera rear scanning system enables automated reverse-side processing for improved crease quality and handling of thicker materials.
Apparently, the FB9550 Pro-T is the first ColorCut machine with a fully automated process for handling thicker materials. Key features of the new machine include automated feeding, sheet pre-placement and QR code-driven job retrieval, aiming to streamline production and support efficient mixed and batch job processing; patented back-mark scanning technology and SmartMark registration said to ensure precise finishing; and the ability to process materials from self-adhesive label stock to boards up to 3,000 microns thick.
The die cutter also has up to 2.5kg of cutting and creasing pressure, seeking to deliver ‘cleaner creases and precise cuts’. Plockmatic states its advanced sheet separation and optimized feeding technology provides smooth, reliable production with minimal operator intervention.
At the start of this year, Schreiner Group revealed its FlexoHybrid 1.200 dpi printing machine at its headquarters in Oberschleissheim, Germany, which combines flexographic and digital printing capabilities in one system. The new machine is said to have resource-saving operation, high print resolution and short setup times.
In March, DS Smith invested DKK 100 million (€13,384,000) to install an advanced rotary die-cutting line for flexographic printing at its packaging facility in Grenaa – boosting its annual capacity by up to 15 million m² of corrugated board. Set to feature servo-driven technology, vacuum sheet transport, and automatic register control, the machinery is expected to improve production accuracy, increase changeover speed and ensure reliable mechanical stability for continuous loads.
