HERMA Linerless

HERMA has introduced its Linerless Plus label material (400) and multi-layer 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive, aiming to reduce waste and disposal costs for traditional, silicone-coated linerless labels.

The label material’s multi-layer structure enables ‘excellent’ adhesion and optimized further processing, and the two-layer structure of the 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive prevents adhesive ‘bleeding’. The adhesive is said to offer ‘very high’ initial and final adhesion and reliable performance even at low temperatures.

HERMA states that combining the Linerless Plus and 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive improves process reliability and offers greater flexibility in the design and layout of the rolls, due to the absence of adhesive-free zones. The adhesive is also said to allow for longer cleaning intervals for linerless printers, as cutting mechanisms become less contaminated, and offers good resistance to ageing, heat and light.

The company adds that labels made from HERMA Linerless Plus (400) can be used in all standard linerless label printers on the market, meaning the switch can be made without the need for further investment. The new label material is coated on a 1.000mm web width and available with a minimum order quantity of 2,000 square metres.

In related news, Securikett has unveiled its latest technology for product and security labels, aiming to make them harder to replicate through features including integrated viewing windows, technical openings and ventilation holes. The technology is based on a special coating technique used during the production of the label material.

Vitsab International recently developed its Freshtag Flight Label to change colour based on temperature exposure and tackle food waste in perishable airline meals. The label uses ‘stoplight’ colour-change technology to signal a product’s integrity: green for safe conditions, yellow for moderate, and red after exposure to unsuitable temperatures.
