
Archroma Packaging Technologies is due to introduce its Ultra High Solids pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) Cartacol APS75 Ultra to the North American market at LOUPE Americas in Chicago, taking place from 15-17th September. The technology is said to help converters reduce energy use and carbon footprint without compromising adhesive performance.
The company states that its new platform ‘significantly increases’ the solid content of water-based PSAs but is still fully processable at industrial scale. The high solid content is said to reduce the amount of water that needs to evaporate during the drying process, supporting lower electricity consumption, reduced processing costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
Built for the general permanent paper label segment and formulated to match the performance of standard PSAs currently on the market, the Cartacol APS75 Ultra was created by “reformulating our base polymer to achieve high solid content suitable for machine coating, giving converters a way to directly reduce their energy consumption and emissions,” according to Dinakar Gnanamgari, vice president of Innovation & Portfolio Expansion at Archroma Packaging Technologies.
The PSA’s patent application is pending, but the company invites converters to trial the solution at LOUPE Americas ahead of its commercial launch. Gnanamgari adds that the company will be showcasing a wide range of solutions including barriers, adhesives, colorants and binders. The company will be presenting at booth 841 at LOUPE Americas 2026.
In similar news, HERMA recently announced its Linerless Plus label material (400) and multi-layer 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive, aiming to reduce waste and disposal costs for traditional, silicone-coated linerless labels. The company says combining the Linerless Plus and 62Dps PSA improves process reliability and offers greater flexibility in the design and layout of the rolls, due to the absence of adhesive-free zones.
The same month adhesive company BindEthics stated that its flagship bio-based adhesive, Ecohesive, had transitioned from laboratory development into industrial-scale production. It is designed as drop-in solution compatible with existing industrial mixing and pressing equipment, aiming to eliminate the need for manufacturers to invest in new production infrastructure.
