Alesayi Beverage Corporation is utilizing SIG’s bags, fitments, and filling system to supply hotels, restaurants, and cafes with products in bag-in-box packaging.

Although Alesayi Beverages is already said to hold a 60% market share in the Saudi Arabian energy drinks category, its work with SIG marks a ‘completely new entry’ into bag-in-box product packaging.

Initially, SIG will supply 10L bags made from its one-layer SIG 2Pure Film, which is designed specifically for water and bag-in-box applications. It apparently holds water at a high quality for up to a year without impacting its taste.

These bags come with the SIG OptiTap 2300 fitment; this is a self-closing thumb toggle valve aimed at ‘simple, intuitive and consistent’ liquid dispensing for consumers’ convenience.

SIG will also provide its SureFill 42 Aseptic BIB filling line. The bag-in-box systems will be located at a new state-of-the-art production facility in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which reaches over 98,000 m2.

“This is just the beginning of our long-term strategic partnership with SIG, as we continue our ambition to become the number one food and beverage co-packer in the MEA region,” said Mohammed Ali Alesayi, Chief Board of Directors and CEO at Alesayi Beverage Corporation. “We’re committed to offering our customers SIG’s unique portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions, including aseptic carton, bag-in-box and spouted pouch, as well as accelerating our sustainability roadmap.”

Abdelghany Eladib, president & general manager India, Middle East and Africa at SIG, added: “By operating our bag-in-box packaging system, Alesayi Beverages will benefit from the system’s flexibility and high performance, enabling product diversification using a number of bag shapes, sizes and fitments. Alesayi will be able to cater to the different business needs of the HoReCa market, starting with water and then moving on to juices and condiment sauces.

“We look forward to developing our strong partnership and helping Alesayi to launch novel products in our highly convenient packaging solutions.”

In another recent collaboration, SIG has also recently provided its carton packaging – SIG MidiBloc and SIG MidiFit – and Midi 12 Aseptic filling machine for Bonafarm’s Sole-Mizo dairy products. With SIG MidiFit making its debut on the Hungarian market, SIG says its unique shape and design allows for drip-free pouring, easy opening and closing, and vertical and horizontal storage.

Also, Diageo and ecoSPIRITS are set to supply hotels, restaurants, and bars with Gordon’s gin, Captain Morgan rum, and Smirnoff vodka in ‘lower carbon, lower waste’ ecoTOTE technology. Diageo plans to pilot and scale circularity-minded packaging in 18 markets within the space of three years.
