Yorkshire-based confectioners, Simpkins, have launched three new limited edition sweet flavours in time for Christmas. The trio - Christmas Pudding, Mince Pie and After Dinner Sprout Mints - all display festive labels produced by leading label manufacturers, The Label Makers.

In contrast to the more traditional flavours and designs that Simpkins release at this time of year, the quirky new flavours are currently being sold only in the UK, prior to being released to the firm’s international customers in time for Christmas 2018. The established family business export to over 40 countries throughout the world, producing 80 lines of sweets from their base in Sheffield. The upmarket sweets are typically available in the UK from independent pharmacy, travel retail, garden centres as well as Boots, WH Smith, Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.

Of their long standing relationship with The Label Makers, Adrian Simpkin, the third-generation owner of the family sweet maker, said: “We have worked with The Label Makers for over 30 years and are wholly dependent on them for consistent quality, service levels and timed deliveries. These new festive labels look excellent - they are designed to be quirky and different compared to our traditional Christmas flavours and so far they have delivered.”

The festive labels, 90mm in diameter, were produced on white gloss paper, 4-colour digitally printed on a Xeikon CX3 press. The Label Makers have also recently worked on further new lines of Simpkins sweets, including the launch in early 2018 of their Botanical candy ranges destined for garden centres and similar outlets.

The Label Makers’ Kevin Lyons said: “We have a fantastic association with Simpkins, which is professional, honest and committed. As both parties know each other so well, we are largely left to get on with the job of producing their labels - the hallmarks of a trusted relationship.”
