Speciality packaging solutions provider, Parkside, has expanded its support to the clean eating, clean living market with the development of a compostable wrapper for nutritious food brand Nobó’s new range of chocolate.   Based in Ireland, health food brand Nobó, known for its award-winning dairy free ice cream, has launched a range of plant based, milk style chocolate. The launch of Nobó’s alternative chocolate range is the company’s first move outside of the frozen food category.

Parkside was commissioned to produce a wrapper for the new chocolate range in alignment with the wholesome plant based chocolate and Nobó’s mission to create better alternatives. Parkside responded with a pack manufactured from plant-based materials and a compostable film laminate, achieving excellent environmental, protective and preservative credentials.

Phil O’Driscoll, Head of Innovation and NPD at Parkside, said “We worked closely with Nobó to create a pack that reflected the company’s emphasis on guilt-free indulgence. The Choc discs are made with sustainable plant based ingredients and are free from dairy, gluten, refined sugar and artificial additives, so the wrapper needed to be as good to the environment as the product is to the body. We are proud to have produced a fully compostable pack that helps rather than hinders the environment.”

Parkside is at the global forefront of home compostable packaging and now boasts an impressive range of sustainable packs as part of its complete product portfolio. The Nobó pack is a triple layer structure made up of paper, NatureFlex™* and bio polymer sealant web and includes bio-based materials such as wood-pulp and corn starch.

In addition, Parkside utilised its market-leading, ultra-high definition print technology to enhance the Nobó pack which is printed on paper, a typically challenging substrate. The design features a bold minimalist aesthetic in a range of bright colours and includes fine text elements. Parkside exceeded the client’s expectation by working with Hamillroad Ltd. to utilise Bellissima™ advanced digitally modulated screening technology that adjusts every pixel it produces.

The Nobó wrapper also follows the successful production of a compostable pack for ethical food brand Rhythm 108 - Ooh-la- la tea biscuits - expanding Parkside’s reputation as the principal innovator of environmentally friendly packaging solutions.

Established for over 40 years, Parkside is a global packaging supplier with manufacturing sites located in both the UK & Asia. The company has grown into a leading flexibles manufacturer, delivering advanced packaging expertise to the food & drink, medical, pharmaceutical, household and personal care sectors.
