WeighPack Systems has announced its new Swifty S-3600 Duplex high-speed pre-made pouch bagger, part of its Swifty Bagger portfolio, said to deliver increased throughput and maintain precise pouch handling across a range of applications.
The company says the new machine features dual parallel pouch-handling lanes and servo-driven motion control, supporting combined outputs of up to 80 pouches per minute depending on the product and application. The S-3600 is suitable for industries including pet food, pharmaceutical, household and nutraceutical.
The Swifty S-3600 Duplex’s straight-through machine is designed to provide unobstructed operator access throughout the pouch loading, opening, filling, sealing and discharge process. WeighPack states that it improves visibility during operation and simplifies inspection, maintenance, cleaning and product changeovers.
The system’s two independent pouch lanes have dedicated pouch pick up, opening, filling and sealing stations. There is also a high-capacity dual pouch magazine that can hold up to four pouch stacks, aiming to support longer production runs and reduce operator intervention.
The company adds that the servo-driven platform ensures repeatable pouch positioning and synchronized motion throughout the packaging cycle, with twin heated sealing stations followed by cooling stations producing ‘consistent seal integrity’ across laminated pouch materials and accommodating a variety of pouch styles.
The S-3600 Duplex can be integrated with a range of WeighPack’s compatible weigh filling machines such as PrimoCombi multi-head weighers, Star Auger auger fillers and other dry fillers, allowing processors to package solids, powders, granules and other approved products on a single platform. Supported pouch formats include stand-up pouches, zipper pouches and quad pouches with terminating gussets.
For applications requiring enhanced sanitation, WeighPack says an optional low-pressure washdown configuration is available for the front end of the machine, providing additional cleaning capability in product-handling areas. Additional configurable options include gas flushing, vacuum station, dust funnelling, hole punching, alternate machine flow direction and CSA or CE conformity packages.
In related news, SÜDPACK Medica introduced its MedHub service in January, allowing customers to order pre-made pouches in standard sizes and defined batch quantities by phone, email, or online. The current portfolio focuses on three-side seal pouches made from film and Tyvek, said to be sterilizable, puncture-resistant, and highly resistant to moisture.
Last month Walki and Dow unveiled a mono-material MDO-PE pouch with a matte finish, set to unlock recyclability and high performance for frozen food packaging in compliance with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The pouch is said to be suitably strong and stiff to meet market demands while also providing ‘excellent’ runnability on existing packaging lines.
