
Videojet Technologies has introduced its 1880 C continuous inkjet printer, designed to help reduce cleaning, service calls and unpredictable downtime for pigmented CIJ printing.
The new coding solution is built for hard and soft pigmented applications and said to deliver ‘bold, high-contrast’ codes while offering operation and maintenance similar to a dye-based printer. The Videojet 1880 C is suitable for applications from beverage cans and personal care packaging to industrial products and flexible materials.
The printer aims to help manufacturers apply high-contrast codes without adding unnecessary complexity to daily operation. Videojet says it also gives production, maintenance and engineering teams a practical path for inline printing of pigmented CIJ codes with fewer equipment maintenance concerns.
The company adds that the Videojet 1880 C has a specialized printer with an advanced ink system designed for reliable ink flow, reduced sedimentation and minimized pigment buildup. Apparently, the printer’s long-life core does not require annual replacement, helping to reduce planned maintenance activities. A main filter life of up to 8,000 hours aims to support predictable operation and fewer interruptions for service.
Videojet states that the 1880 C supports automatic recovery for up to four weeks after shutdown without manual intervention, helping to minimize restart delays. Its touchscreen interface helps operators work with the same controls across Videojet systems, seeking to reduce training time and support repeatable operations from line to line. Its integrated Wi‑Fi connectivity is designed to give teams easier access to printer data and connected support tools.
In related news, Hubergroup Print Solutions has announced its next generation of offset inks featuring a new resin technology, said to deliver fewer make-ready sheets, more consistent colour reproduction and a ‘substantial reduction’ in misting, even on high‑speed presses. The inks also result in fewer sheets being required for on‑press adjustments; table print density and consistent colour results; and ‘consistently good’ post-print performance.
More recently, Siegwerk unveiled a new white printing ink that also provides an oxygen barrier. Aiming to transform barrier performance from a dedicated material layer into a functional property of the ink itself, CIRKIT OXYBAR eliminates the complexity, the use of additional materials, and processing steps that conventional packaging structures generate due to them requiring separate layers.
