Indorama Ventures and Rebhan have partnered to develop ‘glass-like’ PET bottles for the beauty and personal care market, aiming to combine luxury aesthetics with enhanced recyclability.
The two companies have introduced Luxyclear EBM PET 5508, a specialty PET grade for extrusion blow moulding said to enable thick-walled cosmetic bottles with ‘exceptional’ clarity and transparency. The bottles are designed to deliver an ‘elegant, glass-like’ appearance while offering PET’s lightweight, durable and shatter-resistant qualities.
Indorama Ventures says the new solution is available in a conventional virgin PET grade and in versions with up to 100% chemically recycled content or mass balanced certified renewable feedstock. These options seek to allow brands to reduce their reliance on virgin fossil resources.
The product is now commercially available to beauty and personal care brands across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

In related news, last month Aptar Beauty teamed up with L’Occitane En Provence on fully custom refillable dispensing pumps for its re-branded hand care packaging, said to deliver an optimized, controlled dose. The 350ml and 500ml bottles are available in both glass and plastic and have been made refillable to extend the product life cycles.
Also in August, Jo Malone partnered with Boots to launch a new fragrance that comes with a complimentary “Sea Monster” cologne holder and bag charm. Dior, Marc Jacobs, and Celine have all recently launched packaging solutions that allow their products to become bag charms.
