Chilled Packaging

Chilled Packaging has announced the launch of the NiceCube Pop‑up, a paper-based solution said to combine ‘excellent’ thermal protection and efficiency, speed up packing and deliver an improved unboxing experience for end users.

Developed to streamline fulfilment operations, the patent pending solution is supplied flat, aiming to ‘significantly reduce’ storage demands. The user rolls the product and coolant inside the recycled paper liner, then pops the box up and over. A built‑in self‑seal strip eliminates the need for taping.

Chilled Packaging adds that the integrated rip‑strip means customers can open the package quickly and cleanly. Made entirely from paper, the NiceCube Pop‑up is 100% kerbside recyclable, allowing consumers to dispose of the entire pack in their standard household recycling bin.

In related news, in February Henkel released the ‘first’ cold seal solution designed for barrier-coated paper packaging, driven by the growing ‘paperization’ trend and compatible with mechanical paper recycling. The Loctite Liofol CS 7106 RE is said to ensure process-reliable production of recyclable packaging structures, creating a secure seal without heat exposure.

Earlier this year Hydropac updated its HydroFreeze range of water-based ice packs, expected to help customers save energy, reduce waste, and use fewer packs for quicker conditioning operations. The new solutions are thought to freeze 51% faster than the previous packs.
