Altopack has introduced a new resealable zip pack for spaghetti allowing consumers to reseal the pack after each use, preserving product freshness and protecting it from external contamination over time.
The pack is designed to allow consumers to remove the desired amount of pasta and reseal it with a simple gesture, aiming to reduce waste and improve food preservation. Altopack states the new pack has been specifically developed for spaghetti and is also available in a bundled version. featuring individual 100 gram portions wrapped with food-grade paper bands.
The company adds that the solution’s ‘distinctive’ design and features seek to help it stand out on shelf, enhancing perceived value and giving premium brands an opportunity to reinforce their market positioning.
Apparently, the new pack has attracted significant interest in international markets including Western Asia. Altopack says the machine capable of producing the new design has recently been installed at a leading company in the region.
Back in May, Sonoco unveiled re-sealable metal cans and its microwaveable metal bowls at interpack 2026, said to be a ‘highly recyclable’ alternative to plastic trays. The mono-material design combines a metal body with a hermetically sealed metal cap, seeking to reduce costs, EPR fees and improve supply efficiency while utilizing the durability and recyclability of metal.
In other pasta packaging news, earlier this year Barilla reported that it has removed the plastic window from its pasta boxes to avoid ‘unnecessary’ plastics and that 99.8% of the packaging it sells is designed to be recyclable. The company also states that its Blue Box packaging is made with virgin fibres as it comes into direct contact with pasta, aiming to ensure the packaging is safe and high-quality while remaining recyclable in the paper stream.
