Mondi has successfully set a new world record with the longest drawing on the planet. The 12.02-kilometre artistic record-breaker was drawn on EcoVantage Kraft X 70 g/m² paper, which is manufactured at the company’s Containerboard mill in Świecie, Poland.

The world record attempt took place in the Polish city of Świecie during this year’s UEFA European Football Championship hosted by Poland and Ukraine (June 8 – July 1) – and officially ended on July 1 at 8:00 pm. Marek Tomasik, a local artist, supervised the event and designed the stencil for the longest drawing in the world: a smiling dragon.
Each day, on average, more than 500 metres of paper were filled with colour, resulting in a 12.02-kilometre drawing which surpassed the previous world record by 2.87 kilometres. By Tuesday, June 26, the former record of 9.15 kilometre had already been equalled.
Maciej Kunda, Head of Containerboard and Managing Director of the Swiecie mill is very pleased to have achieved this outstanding record. Commenting on the project, he says, “I would like to thank all participants, in particular the vast number of children, who gave up their time to help create the giant artwork with great dedication. And a big thanks to all Mondi colleagues who were engaged in and supported this unique venture. All activities relating to the ‘Tolerance through football’ project in Swiecie and Chelmno were a big success. Polish citizens and people from all over Europe have spent a great time together, watching football and supporting their favourite teams.”
